GO CALL YOUR MOM: THE CAUSE

What is Go Call Your Mom LLC?

We’re a Chicago-based company that makes apparel and content that’s funny, heartfelt, and probably too real. We exist to remind you—gently or loudly—to check in with the people who made you who you are. We’re also a marketing communications consultancy focused on helping large organizations simplify their messaging to advance business objectives. GCYM Consulting specializes in digital/social media and creative, but can operate as a fractional chief communications officer.

Why does go call your mom focus on men?

Because connection saves lives — and men are losing it fastest.

Sociologist Robert Putnam, in Bowling Alone, wrote about how Americans have grown more isolated over the last few decades — fewer clubs, fewer neighbors, fewer shared spaces. And Richard Reeves, in Of Boys and Men, takes it further: boys and men are falling behind not just economically, but emotionally and relationally. They’re lonelier, less connected, and less likely to reach out when they’re hurting.

That disconnection shows up in the data. Men are still overwhelmingly more likely to die from what economists call “deaths of despair”: suicide, overdose, and alcohol-related causes.

So yes, Go Call Your Mom focuses on men. Because the act of calling — of opening up, of checking in — is small, radical, and repeatable. It’s how empathy spreads.

It’s how we rebuild what’s been lost, one conversation at a time.

Do moms actually want to be called every day?

According to a Pew Research study, 92% of parents say it’s very important to stay in close touch with their adult kids. Another survey by CBS found that 85% of moms want more frequent contact—and many say just a quick check-in text or call would make their day. So yes. Moms want the call. It’s free. Do it.

Are there health benefits to calling our moms?

Glad you asked. Daily connection with a loved one has been linked to reduced stress, better memory, and even lower blood pressure. A 2022 University of Kansas study showed that even brief interactions with close relationships significantly improve well-being. TL;DR: connection is medicine. And calling your mom is a habit with no downside.

What if I don’t have a mom to call?

“Go Call Your Mom” is bigger than biology. It’s about love, care, and connection. Think of it as your “M.O.M.” (My Official Mentor). Maybe it’s your dad. Maybe it’s a grandma, an aunt, an old teacher, or the friend who kept you grounded. Call the person who roots for you. They deserve it. So do you.

What is the featured artist merchandise series?

At its heart, Go Call Your Mom is about connection—remembering to reach out to the people who matter, every single day. This series expands on that idea by spotlighting creatives whose work, words, or presence reminds us what it means to live connected.

Each limited-edition shirt features a design and story from a Featured Artist—like David Allen turning scars into floral tattoos of healing, or larryosan’s motto reminding us to Live Until You Die. These shirts are wearable reminders to pause, reflect, and maybe even call your mom.

Mom-approved.
